Do you want to slim down your face? Learn how you can achieve a slimmer face with these health and beauty tips! Get a slimmer face!

More and more, people are worried about their appearance, especially as they age. Unfortunately, this drives over 15 million cosmetic surgery procedures every year in the US, many of which recipients wind up regretting.

What if we told you there were much easier, more natural ways to achieve the facial structure you've always wanted? Luckily, that's possible. Let's talk about how to achieve a slimmer face in 2022!

What Causes a Face to Lose Slimness?

We don't want to say "fat face" because that's almost never the case. Many people who diet and exercise regularly still have a "baby face" or a face with the appearance of extra fat.

Before we discuss how to achieve a slim face, what is it that causes a face to lose its slim appearance in the first place? Let's talk about the most common causes.

No Visible V-Line

The v-line of the face is the most important aspect of the appearance of a slim face. V-line is the term commonly used to describe the slim, oval-shaped facial structure that narrows into a sharper point at the chin, creating a v-shape.

Everybody has a "v-line" in their skeletal structure, but factors like "baby fat", genetics, and a lot of other issues can cover this feature, which is why it's become such a sought-after feature in the beauty world.

Neck Fat

Sometimes, it isn't in our face, but rather our neck is carrying extra weight, often causing the appearance of a "double chin".

There are plenty of different causes of double chins and many of those factors are out of our hands, like genetics. However, there are ways to help boost your appearance and reduce neck fat.

Well, when the fat on our necks becomes too much, it can take away or ruin the v-shape appearance of our jawlines. Moreover, it can even make our jaws invisible on the sides if left to grow.

Weak Facial Muscles

Sometimes, the muscles in our faces don't develop quite as well as we'd like them to. This could be caused by a genetic factor or a number of other issues.

To achieve that iconic v-shape, bone isn't enough. Most people rely on strong cheek muscles and jaw muscles to maximize the effect, which can show even if they have neck fat.

Loose Skin

In many cases, the loss of a v-line has nothing to do with excess fat, but rather excessive skin. This can come with aging, rapid weight loss, or genetic factors.

If that's the case, strengthening your facial muscles, moisturizing, and staying hydrated can go a long way to help restore your youthful look. Let's talk about that.

How to Get a Slimmer Face

Regardless of the underlying issues, the remedies are essentially the same. Having a slim face is a sign of overall health and proper skincare, so here's how to achieve a slimmer face!

Stay Hydrated

Some of the extra weight around our face could easily be extra water weight. While this sounds counter-intuitive, the only way to reduce water weight is to drink more water. The average man should drink around 15.5 cups of water and the average woman should drink 11.5 cups each day.

When you're dehydrated, especially often, your body develops the habit of storing water away, which can give the appearance of fat anywhere in your body.

Also, hydration will help your body transport nutrients, improve regular bodily functions, and allow for proper fat loss and waste disposal, which are important to improving your physique.

Secondarily, drinking water will actually force your body to burn more calories. A calorie is the amount of energy it takes to raise the temperature of a gram of water by 1-degree celsius. Therefore, the more cold water you drink, the more calories you will passively burn!

Eat a Healthy Diet

Everybody has body fat, and genetic factors will determine where we store ours. However, the one challenge with fat loss is that you can't target it as you can with muscle strengthening.

For that reason, it's best to generally stick to a quality diet and exercise routine, as this is the best way to build a slimmer face in the long term.

A calorie deficit is needed to burn fat, but don't go overboard. Consuming less than 500 calories below your maintenance level can actually lead to fat retention and catabolism (muscle loss), which is the opposite of what you want.

Instead, try eating a wide variety of whole foods, especially from plants. Nuts, seeds, whole grains, quinoa, fruits, and vegetables. These will all help you feel full throughout the day and make it easier to maintain a slight calorie deficit.

The best thing you can do to naturally delay the onset of aging, which is often the cause of these issues, is to eat a wide variety of antioxidants. Green tea, coffee, and blueberries have some of the highest antioxidant portfolios of any food, so add them to your daily routine!

Don't be so restrictive that you want to give up. Instead, try to enjoy healthier versions of your favorite meals to help make healthy eating a lifelong habit.

Exercise

Exercise is important, and it's recommended that people achieve 150 minutes of aerobic exercise each week, but diet is even more critical.

A mix of cardiovascular and strength training is best for losing fat and achieving the slim facial structure you want.

Essentially, cardiovascular exercise and proper hydration will help you burn calories, improve blood flow to help nutrients travel to the right places, and burn fat while retaining muscle mass.

Strength training is also critical to burning fat, as it will elevate your heart rate and increase lean muscle mass. The more muscle you have, the easier it is to burn fat. Also, the muscle/fat ratio is critical to the slim facial structure you want.

If you have difficulty adhering to an exercise program, don't make it too complicated. The only "bad workout" is the one that didn't happen, so do what you find enjoyable. Go for a walk, hike, bike, swim, or anything you want, as long as you are increasing your heart rate.

Strengthen Surrounding Muscles

While it may sound crazy, there is plenty of neck and facial exercises that work to strengthen the surrounding muscles. When done correctly, you can tone these muscles for a slimmer appearance.

When combined with fat loss, this approach can work wonders.

For example, chewing sugar-free gum can help strengthen your jaw and neck muscles. There are also plenty of facial exercises, like the fish face, where you suck in your lips and hold it for a few seconds at a time, repeating for multiple reps.

You can try as many as you want. Focus on the facial muscle you want to work in your forehead, jaw, or anywhere else, and contract them for multiple reps. Add extra resistance by pressing into the area on your face with two fingers.

Facial exercises and stretches are also excellent for tightening loose skin over time. If you're worried about aging as a possible factor, then adding this to your daily routine can go a long way.

Also, as these muscles develop, they will give the appearance of a slimmer face, even without the reduction of body fat! It's a simple at-home way to boost your appearance, so give it a try!

Use the Right Face Masks

Fat loss and muscle strengthening take time, and you may be looking for something to help you bridge the gap and develop a more youthful appearance today. Fortunately, you can use face masks to help you in the comfort of your own home.

Essentially, you want to use face masks that target the v-line on your face, or any double chin, and work to perk them up the way you want.

Thanks to modern technology, there are now at-home v-line lifting face masks that can help you develop a more youthful and slim appearance in no time!

It doesn't stop there. There's more you can do to improve the appearance of your face at home that won't take as long as a proper diet and exercise routine (which you should still do). There are plenty of other face-lifting mask options to try at home.
